Gastric Bypass is a surgical procedure where a small stomach pouch is created to restrict the amount of food the patient can eat, and then a bypass of the duodenum and other parts of the small intestine is made in order to cause malabsorption. Patient loses about 77% of his overweight during 12 months after the surgery. This procedure is recommended for patients with a BMI over 40.
