What is a Smile Design?

A Smile Design is a set of procedures created to improve patient's dental cosmetics. As a first step in these procedures, gums shape, color and texture must be observed, making sure that it is harmonic to teeth shape and size. Other factors to be observed are teeth shape, lenght and position. Smile design also takes care of improving tooth color and size.

How is it done?

Before any procedure is actually performed, your dentist will take pictures from different angles, and then he/she will make a digital edition of those pictures, to show you the possible result to be achieved, which allows you to get involved in the process, and then your dentist will make the changes you selected on your teeth.

In order to achieve the best results, some patients will be examined and treated by specialists in different branches of dentistry, such as Oral Rehabilitation, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Maxillo-facial Surgery, Endodontics, Implantology and Cosmetic Dentistry, among other disciplines.

In this process of improving the patient's smile cosmetics, and depending on the results of the first exams, some patients will need one or several specific treatments. This means that while a person may need only a whitening treatment to improve his/her appearance, other person might need orthodontic treatment, dental implants, ceramic crowns and periodontal surgery in order to achieve the same results.
